Damir Filko, Associate Professor, Project leader

Damir Filko graduated in 2006. from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek, and on the same Faculty attained his PhD in 2013. He was employed as a teaching assistant in 2007. at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek, where he participated in the activities of courses from the field of computer science, artificial intelligence and automation. Over the years he advances through the ranks and he is currently employed as an Associate Professor at the Chair of Automation and Robotics which is part of the Department of Computer Engineering and Automation at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek.

So far, he has participated as a collaborator/researcher in a five scientific projects:

  • Since 2020., project duration: 5 years, HRZZ UIP-2019-04-4889, „Methods for 3D reconstruction and analysis of chronic wounds“, Funded by the Croatian Science Foundation.
  • From 2015. till 2016., IZIP-2014-70, „Three-dimensional reconstruction and segmentation of wound surface using RGB-D sensor“. Funded by the Croatian Science Foundation.

During the work so far, as an author and coauthor he published 9 scientific papers in peer reviewed journals and 19 papers in international science conferences. Over the years he reviewed many papers for international science conferences and journals. Current research topics include: robot vision, scene and object registration, robot localization, soft computing and medical applications.

Emmanuel Karlo Nyarko, Associate Professor, Researcher

Emmanuel Karlo Nyarko graduated in 2001 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek, where he received his master’s degree in 2005 and his PhD in 2013. From 2001 to 2005, he was employed as a teaching and research assistant at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek, where he participated in teaching activities in the courses Automatic Control, Computer Architecture and Artificial Intelligence. From 2005 to 2007 he was employed as a software engineer at the company Mono d.o.o where he designed web and smart client applications. From 2008 to 2015 he was employed at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek as a teaching and research assistant at the Department of Industrial Plants and Automation. He is currently working at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek as an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering and Automation, Chair of Automation and Robotics. He teaches the following courses: Basics of Robotics, Computational Geometry and Robot Vision, Object Based Programming and Soft Computing at the graduate level, and Deep Learning and Optimization Techniques at the postgraduate level.

So far, he has participated as a collaborator/researcher in a total of eight scientific projects, three of which were funded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (MZOS), two were funded by the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ), two were funded by the J.J. Strossmayer University, Osijek (UNIOS) and one bilateral project funded by the Ministry of Science and Education (MZO):

  • Microstructural and mechanical characteristics of concrete with recycled materials (Project leader: Associate Professor Marijana Hadzima-Nyarko, PhD, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Arhitecture, Osijek, 2019-present, MZO);
  • The optimization and statistical models and methods in recognizing properties of data sets measured with errors (Project leader: Prof. Rudolf Scitovski, PhD, Department of Mathematics Osijek, 2017-present, HRZZ);
  • Advanced 3D Perception for Mobile Robotic Manipulators (Project leader: Prof. Robert Cupec, PhD, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Information Technology Osijek, 2016-2019, HRZZ);

As a (co) author, he has so far published more than 45 scientific papers in international journals and in proceedings of international conferences. His research interests include robot vision, soft computing and machine learning.

Domagoj Marijanović, mag. ing. el., doctoral student

Domagoj Marijanović received his B.Sc. degree in 2014 and M.Sc. degree in 2017, in the field of electrical engineering from Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology (FERIT Osijek), Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Croatia. From 2017 to 2020 he was employed as automation engineer at Danieli Systec Ltd. He is currently employed as a research assistant at Department of Automation and Robotics at FERIT Osijek and he is working on project “Methods for 3D reconstruction and analysis of chronic wounds”. His current research interests include telemedicine and machine learning.
